Hi June,
Squashed nipples - A couple of things worry me. Is the mastitis completely
resolved? The pain could be from that and the "scar tissue" could be a
pocket of infection or abscess. I'm not sure what signs or symptoms she has
to give the idea that it is scar tissue. We were recently discussing IBC
(inflammatory breast cancer) so I am also worried if she has a distorted
area or peau d'orange skin there.
Also a tongue tie sure sounds likely. Several posters have mentioned that it
can be hard to get a tongue tie diagnosed. The squashed nipple, the pain,
the difficult latches, and the mastitis (from ineffective milk removal) all
go along with tongue-tie. The bottom line is I would want to see the mother
in person, if you havent' already, or do so again, to really look at that
breast and to see what the tongue is like and all that. Then get them
referred to the appropriate caregivers. It is amazing what mothers will
endure and I think you said she will do anything despite the pain, so I
worry about her.

the baby comes off.......its never pain free .....She took the baby for an =
tongue tie assessment and the baby dosent have one.?>>>>>>>>>>>
