You ask good questions, and I hope someone answers them on the list. You
sparked some questions in my mind...

Why do you wish for a **license** to do frenotomies? Is there anything in
the agreement between IBLCE and IBCLCs that would specifically prohibit an
IBCLC from doing frenotomies? Do you, personally, have some other agreement
with some other body, such as a nursing license, that prohibits you from
doing frenotomies? Why not just thoughtfully and carefully incorporate
frenotomies into your practice?

If you really feel that you would be risking your ability to practice by
adding this skill and service, then maybe find some non-licensed, non-nurse
midwives, and find one that is breastfeeding knowledgeable and willing to
learn to do frenotomies. (Or, gather information on frenotomies and give it
to the mother, so that she could do it?)

I hope I am asking in a way as to not make anyone mad, I just don't want to
think that we work in a world where every action is either expressly
licensed or unquestionably forbidden.
