Susan Nachman-Srebrnik asks whether heat can cause a decrease in human milk
production analogous to the drop in production in dairy animals.
Research has shown that babies in hot arid (desert) areas do just fine on
breastfeeding as long as they have unrestricted access to the breast.  So
that must mean their mothers can produce enough.
Remember that dairy animals have artificially high milk output under the
conditions under which they are forced to lactate.  Women who normally pump
a liter or so extra in addition to feeding their babies, may find they have
less surplus as well, I don't honestly know.  But I bet even dairy animals,
if left to their own devices and not in production for human use, would have
enough for their own offspring, if they are at all suited for life in such
climates.
