"And if donor milk isn't available, there are m a n y kinds of
formulas (non-hydrolysed, partly and completely hydrolysed; cow milk-,
soy- and corn/maize-based etc), so if one brand isn't suitable, there
are other options, too."

I have yet to hear of corn/maize based formulas. Can you tell me more about those? But from what I have seen even hydrolysed formulas contain soy products in them. For us personally the pediatricians were amazed as they had never encountered a child react to a hydrolysed formula (hmmm I have though more than once now). But honestly I felt milk banks were just a waste of money being I was pumping out 17 oz a day after feeding the boy. Still though...I can see the problem if the infant continues to lose weight, but if they are holding steady is there a real cause for alarm? If so how soon do we become concerned as opposed to waiting it out and seeing if the baby can figure things out on his/her own w/ proper support? Luckily I have yet to run into a case that hung on as long as my personal case but I'm sure they are out there. Thanks for indulging the questions. I guess you learn the most from your own children huh?
