If mastitis keeps recurring, it might be a good idea to do a milk culture to make sure she is on the proper antibiotic. Eileen

She was an over producer. No longer, this time around as with the help of another IBCLC and myself, she did sage tea to help with an over production, more resting, family helped with the little ones, breastfeeding on demand, massaging and warmth to lumps and bumps whenever they occurred. She has already been on Keflex and now is on it again. She thought things resolved but that same breast is flaring up again despite her diligence to make sure baby is emptying it frequently and she pumps only if needed. She is ready to dry up that side and try to enjoy breastfeeding with one breast. Her experiences have never been enjoyable. Her Doctor is telling her this is not a good idea and she is conflicted but ready to do it anyway. She is a physician and she has a physician friend who has long term nursed her children so she has wonderful support.
