Hello,

Dr. Tieman asks about what to do for a 3 mo child who is ingesting 20-24
ounces of EBM at a daycare.. and then is completely unhappy.

I find this unsettling for a number of reasons. First they over feed this
infant 8 ounces every 3 hours then they overfeed smaller amounts every
hour---then complain when he cries because he has a stomach ache, then they have too
many other children around to pay him the attention he needs??? Then they want
to drug him and/or expose him to cereal to fix the problem they have created???
Short term I would tell them to offer him 4 ounces every 3 hours offering one
ounce more if he cues to feed within the hour. Then I would ask about how
much time the spend holding/rocking etc with him???

My long term solution would be to take my child out of this daycare. They
are probably propping the bottle as well.
