I am climbing up on the soapbox again--this time re: the 8-pt. IQ
differences reported by Lucas, etal.

I am seeing more and more "pooh-poohing" of such differences. If you are
confronted by similar demeaning of this research and/or the researchers who
conducted/reported their findings, feel free to share the following:

Average IQ scores are 100-110.

120 and above is considered genius

Below 90 is considered retarded/educable (I believe that is the word used)

If a baby has the capability of an IQ of 105 and is breastfed, the
difference between 97 and 113 is considerable! In one case, the child may
not be considered capable of doing college work, whereas in the other case,
s/he might be considered a candidate for an honors program or more!

8 points can make a TREMENDOUS difference, depending on where those 8 pts go!

If child is at 100 and lost 8 points, s/he would be at 92!
If child is at 110 and gained 8 points, s/he would be at 118!!!

Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
