The NY Times article was described with great journalistic latitude in one of
our tabloids today, and the online discussion was not long in coming. Mostly
men have posted, and this post is pretty representative. One foreigner, a man
apparently from another European country, has posted several times saying he
objects to being forced to view 'intimacies' when mothers BF in cafés, and he
is being roundly put in his place, as by this poster:
"This is a slightly ridiculous discussion, breastfeeding is the most natural
thing in the world. If someone sees a BFing woman and is bothered by it, it
doesn't take anything more than turning one's head, and the problem is solved
for the time being. When you have time to contact a psychologist and get some
help, it may be that your problem will be solved in the long run too. To
those of you who sexualize BFing, you have a big problem. That BFing is nice
to watch is something I agree with, but it is because it shows real love for
one's child and responsibility for the child's future health. To all women:
BREASTFEED AWAY. My wife has breastfed 5 children and hasn't regretted one
second of it, because, as she says, it is the pinnacle of happiness to have a
satisfied and pleased child in your lap both home and away. GO, NORWAY!"

And that's the news from this part of the world for tonight.
