Renee, your post echoes my experience.

The boob words push me over the edge since they always mean some form
of "female idiot."  Any reference to the breast as "boob" contains
this layer of meaning.  Many trace this common usage to a line
from an American play which escapes me at the moment.  I tried to
google it and was kindly informed that the word "boob" had been
eliminated from my search for a "safe search..."

I think it's important to remember that the word and its derviatives do
not just mean "idiot"  -- the word uses the female breast to
personifiy idocy.

Just thought I'd ask how you all react when working with a mother who refers to her

breasts as 'boobs' , 'boobies', 'tits', 'titties' and the like.
When doing phone helping, the caller doesn't see my cringe (sometimes
they sound as irritating as nails on a chalkboard) .  On my phone
log I always write her word and put a smiley face..really only for my
own amusement and help me temper myself.  I always use correct
anatomy words when speaking with her...making sure I don't emphasize my
preferred word so as not to be judgmental of the mother's preferred
word.
