Breastfeeding is the most physiologic method of infant feeding and is
biologically normal in a two-year-old. The child has to eat something. Why
wouldn't the most physiologic approach be the most appropriate? Take a look
at "When Breastfeeding Isn't Contraindicated" by Jack Newman:
http://www.lalecheleague.org/ba/May97.html. It might help build the
confidence needed to seek a second opinion and/or to request that the
doctor provide references to back up his claim that breastfeeding is
contraindicated.

Best wishes,

Cynthia
