Dear everyone,
I wanted to ask a question that was posed by the Clinical Pharmacist here at the Clinic.
Her concerns are that she feels uncomfortable with the use of fenugreek and the Premature infant. She has expressed concerns regarding the fact that we are not certain what exactly is in the fenugreek capsules ( Parts is parts??) and that if meds given to the premature are not working ,then potentially could it be do to the fenugreek or the infants liver, kidneys not functioning properly???
I have used fenugreek, Reglan with many of our mothers here when the need arises...
One of our neonatologist has expressed concerns regarding this very same issue.
Is anyone aware of any research that is currently being done?
Any other meds besides Reglan and Domperidone to increase milk supply??
I did respond by saying that the maternal milk supply is the one of the only things that mother can "control" during her infants stay in the ICU.
Thanks for your help!
Liz
