First,  this is probably not the right place for this question, but I
really am lost as to where to turn.  My 20 year old college freshman son
told me tonight that he wants to be circumcised.  I was stunned but we
talked alot about his why: he always felt different but when he got to high
school and was the only boy in the locker room whole he really felt
uncomfortable and now that he is in college it is more of the same.  He
volunttered that no one has ever said anything to him, he has talked to a
couple of his good friends who are circumcised, and said he is not sexually
active and that is on the reason why.  His older brother is circumcised the
younger one is not.  All  my boys are wrestlers and the three brothers have
been in the locker room together, but have never talked about circumcision.
 We discussed why we chose not to circumcise him (both paternal family
tradition as well as all the current information).  We also discussed
becoming used to his body and I used as an example his older sister's
uncomfortableness with her large breasts (32E) that at 23 she is overcoming
as well as my own uncomfortableness with my very small breasts that I
overcame.  He is still pretty strong in his desire to have the surgery.
HELP!  I have no idea how to deal with this...  Thanks for any suggestions
any of you might have.

Next...the discussion on the use of tincture of benzoin prompted me to get
out the bottle I have in my medicine cabinet that my kids refuse to use on
cold sores.  I have a crack in the corner of my mouth that has not healed
in 3 weeks inspite of a myriad of treatments.  24 hours of the benzoin and
the tenderness was gone and the crack was closed.  It stung briefly when I
applied to the crack but it was then the most comfortable it has been.
Many have commented on the smell of it, but I like the smell of it.  I
wonder if it kind of like ventian violet use for thrush:  it is messy and
yucky to use, but is effective.  Speaking of gentian violet use, why did it
fall out of favor?
