Hello all! Happy, healthy 1998!
Did any of you go to the wonderful ILCA Coding workshop* in New
Orleans? Or generally be knowledgable on use of codes? I had a phone
consultation with a mother of a still-nursing 16 month old who has a yellow
tooth. She consulted with me about baby's dental condition and toddler
nursing /weaning issues.DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO CODE THIS
FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES? What diagnostic code would apply? What code does
one use for a phone consult?
Incidentally, her pediatrician told her that the yellow tooth was caused by
breastfeeding to sleep in bed. As proof, she cited another case of a 3 yo
hwo had nursed to sleep and had to have "all his teeth removed". In this
case, possible trauma, infection and the lousy parental dental genes seem
to have been overlooked.
* I listened to the tapes of the whole coding workshop and recommend them
highly, if you are interested. NYLCA bought copies. Other LC affiliates mey
have done so, too. Call the ILCA office for more info. re availability.
TIA, Margot C Mann IBCLC Riverdale, New York.
