Dear friends, mothers, carers,

I think mothers have used these techniques for ages and ages and dr. Karp just organized them and wrote them down. Rocking, wrapping, swinging, singing, cuddling, suckling, ... all are true and tried remedies for unsettled babies, aren't they?
Point is, I think, that in our detached society, moms don't remember these things that our foremothers did intuitively and many of our sisters around the world still do. We need a doctor to tell us how to sooth our babies. I'm really glad dr. Karp does teach a method with which mom and baby are together and baby is treated with respect, but I also think it is sad that he needed to do it at all.

Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC, LLLL in southern Netherlands
