You know I just went to my first National Childbirth Institute conference a
few weeks ago and one of the topics was alternative induction methods. The
conference was geared toward CPMs, and CNMs, but was mostly attended by CPMs
and other direct entry midwives. The general consensus, or at least this is
what I felt, is that the use, while it can be dangerous is ok if you watch
the dose. The midwives there discussed the dosage of 12mg (or was it mcg?)
instead of what many hospital based hcp's use which was high, seems to me
around 100mg. So while I think there are other natural and certainly safer
methods, I would think that using a much lower dose would be easier for both
the uterus and the fetus to handle.
