From "The Advertiser" Friday 6 August 1999 Adelaide, South Australia (there was
also a very nice picture to accompany the article, however, it was on page 14)

It's feeding time for 388 - and a record.

It's one for the record books - 388 breast-feeding (sorry, that's how it was
written in the paper, G.) babies under the one roof. The babies and mothers
crammed into a marion cinema yesterday to stake their claim for a spot in the
'Guiness Book of Records'.

Their attempt at the biggest number of babies suckling simultaneously is
believed to be a world first.

The group of contented South Australia babies had a rival. A record attempt was
also made in Hobart - but only 184 turned up. (I think that's good anyway, G.)

The Marion group included mother's who had travelled from Bordertown and Port
Pirie to take part.

Mrs Nancy Leinweber's efforts were twice as effective - she had 30-month-old
Adam on one breast and eight-month-old Connor on the other. "It is a bit
bizarre to have so many babies feeding in the one room but it's good fun and
it's very good for awareness of breast-feeding," said Mrs Leinweber, 38 of Hove.

Mrs Elizabeth McDonald, 32, of Seacliff Park, also doubled up with six-month-old
twins Jessica and Christopher.

"I wanted to participate when I heard about the record attempt," she said.

"I think it's great - all these babies could end up in the 'Guiness Book of
Records'".

The record attempt was held as part of breast-feeding awareness week.

It was the idea of midwife Mrs Brenda Crilley, a member of the Lactation College
of South Australia.

"We wanted to do something for breast-feeding week but we didn't want another
morning tea," she said.

As well as being in the city newspaper it was also on the national news last
night.
