Hi Loni and Netters,
This is an old remedy, I remember some Drs. prescribing, but have not heard
about this in a long time. They use to give babies antispasmodic drugs and
tranquilizers too. If you look up in Ruth Lawrence's "Breastfeeding: A
Guide for the Medical Profession", 1980 ed., p. 133 states for the colic
baby "Elixir of diphenhydramine (Beenadryl) or pyribenzamine
1-2tsp.(immediately and every 4 hr as necessary) is usually very
effective." I did look it up in her latest 5ed., 1999 and there is no
info. on medications. She actually talks about herbs and teas. Wow, how
the times change.
