I'd agree with Jan. The key question is not how much oxytocin is in teh
system, (lots we hope, after what-Uvnas Moberg tells us) but whether the
uterus has developed enough oxytocin receptors for such stimulation to
induce labour, and that seems likely only in women with a history of
repeated early misses. What determines when the receptor numbers multiply
is not something I know: anyone? probably baby-driven, not mother, I
suspect.
I'm sure I've said this before on Lactnet: pardon me if I'm repeating
