Rachel,

Just a quick brainstorm: sometimes, it's not the milk that causes the blood, it's the method of delivery. I'm thinking oversupply, overactive let-down, etc. Has she tried bottle-feeding HER milk? This was the solution for one mother/baby I worked with, and it was temporary after we helped the mother with positioning, some block nursing to temper her production a bit, and the baby's maturity. 

Might not be of any help, but might also be that "out of the box" idea you need.
