I'd like to break this down into 3.
So,
 Artificial infamt feeds put infants at greater risk of infection for three
reasons - firstly they are denied normal immune support that is delivered
via breastfeeding; secondly components of infant formula actively make them
more vulnerable to infection and make it more difficult for them to fight
infaction; thirdly they are exposed to higher bacterial loads in their feeds
and higher risk of user error in feed preparation/storage/delivery.
I think the second mechanism is often overlooked.
