Hello
Our HMO hospital is planning the resumption of delivery services after
having contracted out for several years. We have a well-established, free
lactation clinic that also sees mothers & babies discharged early from the
hospital. As an LC on the planning committee, I'm hoping to get your
collective wisdom if you have both inpatient and outpatient services in your
facility.
Do your LC's rotate and work in both in- & outpatient settings? If not, how
do you communicate (effectively, empathetically!)? Do you have consult forms
that you like? If you are in California and have the mandated
early-discharge follow-up appointments, how are they run?
And any other input is welcome. (yes of course, we're trying for BFHI!)
Please respond to me off-list if you prefer- Thanks.
Susan Lawrence, RN, IBCLC, LLLL
