Hi Leanne,

It sounds like things are being taken care of. My thoughts would be:

Have mom look into MRSA "protocols" as she may be prone to more of these
infections. There may be some things she can do as far as special solutions
to bathe with, or some ointment in her own or baby's nares. I would have
her discuss with the infectious disease folks. The entire family may have
to do some of these things?

Of course, scrupulous cleaning of her hands and fingernails after the
dressing changes (or the person that is helping with this), scrupulous
cleaning of the pump parts and possibly wiping down the pump with some sort
of cleaner.

With all those antibiotics, I would suggest she eat some foods that can put
back good bacteria and/or take probiotics. Eat well, rest as much as
possible. I wasn't sure if you were worried about the Bactrim, my
understanding is it can be an issue for displacing bilirubin and so is a
concern for a newborn or an infant with that issue. However, her baby is 8
wks out and should be ok with that.
