Hi LactNetters,
My elder daughter just left for CA, on her way to Japan for a year
as a Marine, as it seemed like 10 minutes after I went to bed last night
we had to get up in the dark to get to the airport, I hope this makes
sense.
Just a comment to Dr. Jack, I got less sleep it seemed with my
teenagers than my babies as I stayed awake with an eye on the clock
until all my 'babies' were accounted for safe and sound.
Too many woman know so little about breastfeeding and are not given
the information, even if they ask for it, that trying to do it 'by the
book' makes them adhere to rigid standards, information or schedules.
Assuming that every pregnant mom knows what La Leche League is, what a
Lactation Consultent is, or what anything associated with babies,
breastfeeding, or formula, or even how she feels she wants to mother
this child is wrong. And the whole situation is confused by so much
conflicting information out there, that I am not really surprised that
we see so many problems in parenting and with our babies and children.
I agree with (I think it was Dr. Jon) that if a Dr. gave out
information on breastfeeding only and nothing about formula, the Dr.
would be seen as a fanatic, yet those who give out only positive
information on formula, rarely if ever a risk of formula use mentioned,
and hardly if ever even mention breastfeeding are not seen as fanatics
for formula. And no one can see the disparity of this situation and why
it drives some of us crazy. I also agree with and resent the 'belief'
out there that breast milk and breastfeeding is guilty until proven
innocent and formula is innocent and safe.
I too received the Lanolin, and I am not an LC.
