I agree with you, that commercial milks are so far from breastmilk that I do
not feel there is much difference between those and the homemade ones. I
think it would start a revolution though, at least in the USA, to recommend
that as an option to families who can't/won't bf. Because of the huge
marketing and the cultural acceptance of commercial formulas.
A possible advantage in the commercial formulas might be quality control
systems, sterilization, and homogeneity (?) of the ingredients. However, all
of this is debatable, as we know of many recalls, contaminations, and
serious errors in the manufacturing of the commercial formulas. The whole
dairy industry in my opinion has a very successful marketing program going,
having some people believe they can't survive w/o cow's milk.
