I am wondering if anyone has anything to add to the posts in the archives
about child-led weaning, and whether the term "child-led" or the idea that a
child has "self-weaned" before the age of 2, is an accurate term?

I have heard it said that there is a window of time around 12 - 15 months at
which time most children are especially "open" to weaning, if encouraged, but
I don't remember where I read or heard it. Is this the case? Does anyone
have a reference for this proposition?

I am also considering how to respond to a statement that some mothers may
have children who are ready to wean but the mothers "push" the children to keep
nursing for the mother's own benefit - either to prolong breastfeeding
infertility, or because the mother still likes it but it is not for the child's
benefit. Is there any basis for this? I have also heard it said that babies
and children cannot be "forced" to nurse, so that we can trust that if they
still nurse, they still need to.

Finally, I am interested in whether there is any formulation of the
breastfeeding/ parenting practices needed to prolong breastfeeding infertility past
the 6 months of the LAM method, other than Sheila Kippley's "Seven Standards
of Ecological Breastfeeding" defined in her book Breastfeeding and Natural
Child Spacing?

Thanks for any input.
