A mother whom I've been working with for a couple of weeks is still having
what she describes as "stinging" of her nipples when baby feeds. At first
the nipples were flat when baby came off. We worked on positioning and
baby's tongue down. The nipple shaping has stopped and milk transfer is
good, but mom says that her nipples begin to sting and continue throughout
the feeding. She is treating for yeast because initially there was nipple
damage and burning in the breast following abx treatment. The yeast-like
symptoms are gone, but the stinging continues.

She is trying to get an appointment with the cranio-sacral therapist and in
the meantime she is pumping and finger feeding. Strange thing is that her
nipples sting while she is pumping also. It doesn't look as if the nipples
are being abraded by the flange. They sting for 10 minutes or so with the
pump, then stop. There is no nipple blanching.

Any ideas?
