I'd agree - and also (even more significantly?) the fact he would not bf
and he was given bottles (plural, note), Laurie tells us,  on his very
first night, which would add to his stress, and probably went alongside
some over-enthusiastic hands-on pushing and messing around....just
guessing, of course.....

Babies who *refuse* the breast are trying to tell us something. They are
very unlikely to be telling us 'please give me a bottle of that delicious
formula instead.'
