My information is old, but I think still valid. I understand that cold-sterilising solutions, such as the one mentioned by Kirsten, leaves a salty deposit on the container, that should be rinsed off with boiled water. My informant, who taught in the pharmacy department of a university, was concerned that use of these solutions could increase sodium intake of infants, unless the container were rinsed. (Does anyone have a published reference to this?)

I would use a cold sterilising method such as Milton solution. I'm not sure
if it is in use as much in the USA as in Australia, but that is how I
sterilised everything I wanted to store EBM in when the boys were little.
