 first off welcome to lactnet...

  a couple of thoughts on this thread - if baby was closer to mom ( even in a
cradle next to the bed) then no would would have to wake up some completely
for nursing. with baby in an other room by the time baby is crying loud
enough to be heard baby is REALLY awake. To be awaken by the crying and to
get out of bed and walk mom has to be REALLY awake.

   re: spoiling - by definition spoil is to rot/ things that spoil ( all
things) do so from neglect not attention.
