Annie, I also have never heard this correlation, and I would like to see
info on such. Seems unlikely to me.

 Also, that women who
>have pp hemmorrhage often have no or low milk production due to
>blood being shunted from the pituitary.

Another ????? Never heard of this one ...I doubt if blood would be shunted
from a person's brain if they were anemic. I would think that the brain
would have top priority for blood at all times...

. It will be interesting to see what Reglan does.
>On the subject of Reglan, any experience with mothers of preemies
>using Reglan to increase supply?

I have seen Reglan used several times here. I know that there is a
colleague of ours at Yale who uses it regularly with very good results.

I am working with a woman who has
>been pumping for 10 weeks now and lately is only getting about 5 cc's
>per pumping. Recently we upgraded her pump to the double (had been
>useing a single fully auto. pump prior to coming to us)

All preemie mothers that I deal with pump with a double system from day one,
and do at least 8 pumpings/day, preferably 10-12. Taking one period of
sleep at night of 4-5 hours.

She pumps q 3 >during the day, nothing at night.

I think that this is the policy of many NICUS, and that this can be the
start of a diminishing milk supply.....?

>I figure once her supply goes up and with the baby starting to suckle
>we can back off the Reglan.

I think that Reglan is used for a limited amount of time, but I am no
expert. Any other info out there on Reglan use? The mother that I dealt with
who had severe milk production problems following a Depo Provera injection
used Reglan with good results. Doubled her supply in just a day or two.
