I know from person experience how painful thrush can be. I have found that
nipples can remain sore even while being treated properly- especially if
they are cracked. Putting a "dollop" of yogurt onto a clean handkerchief
and wearing it in the bra is quite soothing and I think that it aids in the
healing process. It has to be yogurt with live cultures, and it must not be
a flavored one. (You'd be surprised how many people have asked what flavor
is best to use!) I have used this with my own thrush, and have also used
it successfully with other moms (clients) as well. I suppose ther is a
slight risk of skin irritation- but it feels soo good. Nancy Sherwood LLLL,
IBCLC in sunny Perth, Australia
