What relationship does Baylor College of Medicine have with ILCA? While all
of you discuss the Code (and I find that discussion very enlightening), I,
because of my interest in patenting of human milk components would like to
understand what Baylor College of Medicine's relationship is with ILCA.
Baylor has one of the first patents on human milk at the US Patent
Office--not genetically engineered. Baylor has a direct
relationship/collaboration to the human lactoferrin industry--a company named
Agennix. I recognize the seriousness of Code violations but I think we have
even greater concerns about the human lactoferrin industry. This industry
has direct ties with the infant formula industry. I believe there is a need
for breastfeeding advocates to get up to speed on this new and
breastfeeding-threatening industry. Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
