This statement (by the doc) fried my tail and hit a half dozen other raw
nerves.

In the first week, when antidiuretic hormone levels are high in a baby, uric
acid crystals are considered normal. If they appear anytime after that they
indicate dehydration.
Not only that, uric acid crystals tend to sit on top of the diaper surface and
look powdery or pasty. They do not soak in, as blood would, even on disposable
diapers.

I personally have knowledge of cases of severe dehydration in older babies
that were missed early because someone gave telephone advice to a mom that the
crystals were normal. (I might add the cases had really bad outcomes for the
child )

Gheez--maybe all these providers need to go back to anatomy and physiology
101!!!
Sorry for the rant--climbing off the soapbox now.
