I haven't been reading the boards for a bit--been on maternity leave--but
one of my other networks for WIC Peer Counselors passed this post along...
I XXX'd out the name of the marketing agent and contact info.

"Hello!

My name is (XXXXX) and I am a marketing specialist for Babies R Us. I was
wondering if you might have anyone interested in participating in our Happy
Bonding event in August. I've provided a few details below.

Happy Bonding - August 9th, 2014

To support Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Babies "R" Us will be hosting an
event called "Happy Bonding" in all of our BRU and Integrated locations.

This event will take place on August 9th and will feature a prenatal and
postnatal element.

The event will provide breastfeeding education.

We are looking for Lactation Consultants for this event in our store
locations.

10:00-11:00 - Prenatal class

11:00-12:00 - Postnatal class

We do ask that the volunteers are certified so that we can make sure moms
are getting the most up to date information from a professional. We ask
whomever is doing the event to provide a certificate to show they are
qualified.

This is a volunteer basis but in turn they will be able to hand out flyers
or information to all incoming moms to our stores. Great way to advertise
for many! We are also aware that some may need hours to help with their
certification status. We also welcome them!

Our main focus is to get every mom educated. We see a lot of new moms who
either can't afford to go to hospital classes because of the cost, or moms
who just don't know where to turn to. We also do prenatal classes in our
stores with the same concept. In return we are getting those moms who are
thankful for the information and have a business card to call when they
feel overwhelmed.

Store locations and contact information:

We appreciate all the help we can get since there may be some opportunities
we are missing.

Thank you again for your help!

So... forget the fact that they're seeking volunteers and not offering to
pay for a prenatal class, talk to me about ethics, etc.

While I think this might be an outreach opportunity for WIC agencies and
their breastfeeding support, something about this just seems... off. Since
Babies R Us is not exactly what you'd call WHO Code Compliant (selling
formula, bottle nipples, etc.), I don't think this is an appropriate place
to 'market' our services...

I apologize, too, if this has already been discussed--as I said, a new baby
has kept me off the boards the last couple months!
