I haven't read the article in Pediatrics referred to in Rachel Wahl's post, but I can not fathom how a baby could survive at all for six months without getting back to birth weight. Is this a typo, and if not, can someone tell me what the Pediatrics article says about who was following the family for that six month period? How isolated could the family be, if nobody else noticed that the baby was in imminent danger of death by starvation and intervened for half a year? Really SCARY.
