There are probably as many ways to change attitudes as there are
personalities. One simple thing we've done at our hospital seems to have
opened some minds.

We made up little cards that say: "Golden Nipple Award" on the top. It has
a drawing of a mother breastfeeding. Underneath,it says, "You've been
caught showing outstanding support to our breastfeeding mothers and babies."
On the bottom, it says, "Changing the world. One breastfed baby at a time."

We glue a chocolate Kiss wrapped in gold foil to the card.

We hand them out to anyone (docs too!) we see making that extra effort.
It's become a bit popular and nurses come to us to tell us how they have
helped moms (They seem to be wishing for the "prestigious" golden
nipple!). Often, it opens the door to education and it seems to let them
put down their defenses.
