If the mom is VERY lucky she will have no untoward effects from the Depo
shot - however, I would not be too hopeful. If the supply is affected, what
can you do? Not much, in my experience. Keep the baby at breast and nurse
with SNS and hope that when the Depo runs out in 3 months the milk supply
will kick in via "relactation" (is this a possibility?).
Another thing you can do (or the mom and gramma) if the milk supply is
negatively affected - get a lawyer, sue for malpractice, negligence, etc.

This was was an inexcusable action by the Dr. Even the manufacturer says to
wait until 6wks pp. We also have the problem of the depo having an effect
on the bleeding - if it stops altogether (right away pp) do we know that it
is from a problem or is it the depo? What if it gets heavy? Is there a
problem or is it the depo?
When will these people learn? It is not a Drs decision to give this type
(or any type) of birth control to a woman simply because she is young and
has two children, or is poor and has a few children.

Steaming...
