A friend gave me permission to share her question with you:

"Would you happen to know of the rationale as to why breastfeeding a child
exclusively for the first 6 months has been found to reduce the risk of the
child in developing juvenile diabetes? I'm familiar with only one study from
Finland that conducted, I believe, a retrospective study of a cohort of
different feeding types and concluded that breastfeeding was a protective
factor.  However, I can't recall whether they found the reasoning or
mechanism behind it."
