Well put, Kathy D. I know that for me these are some really hard issues to
think straight about, and, as with most things, the more I read and learn
the less sure I am. I used to just accept without question the WHO position
about AIDS/HIV & BFing, but I'm not so sure any more. Now, I was a
religion/philosophy major in my college lifetime, so it's clear that I have
an inclination to fuss these issues to death, and i "know" a lot about
decision-making processes, how people come to their moral decisions, how to
think "clearly" (at least according to various western & non-western thought
systems), but I don't know where I come down on these questions.

Here's what I know: it must be an almost unbearbly painful situation for
this family and those who work with them closely, and I pray that those who
must make the decisions about what's to be done can do so with compassion
and empathy and good science.

PS Thanks for the clarification about primates - one of those things I've
always wanted to know but was afraid to ask! Now if I can only remember...
