I am a pp lactation consultant who has a 4 month old with nipple confusion (I think). His history: mom discharged from hospital exclusively breastfeeding until she had painful cracked nipples. Sent to lactation consultant - sent to ENT for eval of tongue tie - sent to expert on post tongue tie for revision. During this time, mom was pumping and giving EBM by bottle. Baby also has a history of torticollis and tight jaw and was referred to pedi chiro which is how I met mom. We tried every position imaginable by man to get this little guy back to breast over a month ago. Baby cried and refused breast. Mom was instructed by first LC to prefeed before attempting latch and became quite nervous when baby was pushing breast away. did not want to try SNS. Mom wanted to stop trying for awhile and felt ok with pumping and giving EBM and not latching. Now she is ready to try again.

Is it too late to get this baby back on breast after 4 months of bottle feeding? I told her to start with laying next to him in a comfortable position, letting him explore the breast/nipple and see what happens. I'm going to do a home visit tomorrow. Thanks, Dana
