High Risk- Children Without a Conscience by Dr. Ken Magid and Carole
McKelvey was written in 1987 before all of the news about school shootings
etc. They maintain that a lot of violence and anti-social behavior is a
result of disruption of the bonding process in childhood. For example,
according to this book, it isn't daycare in and of itself that is bad for
kids, but the high turnover in staff (when they're underpaid like they are
here) that is hard on kids, because they bond to a person and then they
leave.
