Hello fello Lactnetters!

I have permission to post this question to other BF professionals.

This mother is a regular multiparous new delivery, day 3. Breastfeeding is
going well. The patient wears contacts and has glasses for backup.
Unfortunately, she lost a contact, so she is wearing just one!

The optomotrist will not write her a script for a new pair (or even one
replacement) because her last script has expired. The optomotrist also will
not examine her eyes until she "has not breastfed for at least 6 weeks."

It is common for changes during pregnancy to alter the eyes, and thus new
prescriptions during pregnancy are rare. But, I have never heard anything
to support what this optomotrist is saying. Maybe the patient misunderstood
the optomotrist, instead to wait until 6 weeks postpartum (regardless of
breastfeeding)?

Does anyone have any information to shed some light on this. am I missing
something?

Thanks in advance for any posts.
