I have been told that the new Pump In Style Advance is equivalent to a hospital grade pump. I am curious if others are hearing this as well. When the Medela company was called they stated that this was a single user pump, not hospital grade. However when questioned further they also stated that the term "hospital grade" was a grey area. They stae on the box that it is the "highest retail grade" pump, not hospital grade. What I also have heard is that some insurances in our area are cutting their rates for rental reimbursement for a mom who may be separated from her baby. The reasoning is that Medela has said that this pump can take the place of a Lactina or Classic. So moms will be required to have a PIS Advance instead of what we consider "hospital grade", the Lactina, Classic, SMB, Elite. Have I missed something along the way? Are others hearing this as well?
