This sounds like a pretty clear case of malpractice. Limiting care and
not offering appropriate tx is, most likely, against state law. You and
the mom need to contact; (1) the state medical board, (2) a really good
public interest attorney (do you have a public interest research group in
CA?); (3) state legislator and (4) the media. If this physician is not
tx the mom, who else isn't he/she treating? I bet the elected officials
could get things moving a little faster, I'm sure there is a provision,
buried deep in the guidelines, for a second opinion.
This mom needs lots of advocacy.
