I've had two calls this week from women seeking to increase their milk
supply. Over the phone I did a brief discussion to see why they think they
need to increase their supply. (I will suggest a consult if it seems
necessary). Both of these women reported that they were trying to increase
supply by drinking more water. Both women are drinking 1 or more gallons of
water per day! (128 oz. per gallon) They wanted to know if they should
drink more! I found information in Ruth Lawrence's book about a study which
indicated that women who drink too much water experience a decrease in milk
production. Have any of you found this with your clients? I'd appeciate
knowing more about how much water is really too much?
Thanks!
