As a retiring manager, this is a fact. Hospitals are also looking at loyalty, being able to handle a large workload, experience with the nursing and medical profession, flexibility, etc. This is why a nursing background is often the desired background.

Hospitals are concerned with cost-effectiveness, liability and flexibility as well as excellent patient care. RN/IBCLCs are utility players and may recognize problems other than lactation issues.
