Whenever I initiate a personal boycott against a mega-corporation, it
occurs to me that no one there will ever know if I do or don't break down
and buy one of their products once in a while.

If I write a letter *saying* I'm boycotting, and why, the organization will
certainly know where I stand.

So if my goal is really to change their behavior, I have more effect
writing the letter and cheating once in a while, than being absolutely
rigid in my boycotting without ever telling them why.

(who nonetheless finds it much easier to boycott than to write the letter)
