Cindy:  Does this mother not have a regular pediatrician or family practice
doctor?  Relying on the ER for "regular" care, as we know, does not lead to
good follow-up care.  It sounds like this mom needs to RUN not walk to the
nearest doctor's office.  I'm surprised they didn't admit this baby, at
least overnight due to the weight loss alone.  Wonder what this baby's
blood work looks like?
Good luck.  Just remember to document, document, document, to protect
yourself and your license in case there is an undesirable outcome here.
