The lack of solid definitions in all the sleep hysteria is one of the things
that bothers me the most.

SIDS: an unexplainable infant death. unless you include soft bedding and
entrapment as risk factors in your brochures

SUDI: Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy. unless you call it Sudden
Unexplained Death in Infancy. Two very, very different meanings, and even
the CDC confuses them in its literature

Bed-sharing: sleeping in the same bed. unless you include sleeping on the
same sofa or the same recliner

Co-sleeping: sleeping in the same room. unless you define it as bed-sharing.

With such murky definitions and consequently unreliable medical examiner
reports, why on earth would we think we can set national policy??
