Nikki's story about her frustrations with technical problems with her
computer led to the point that we can be too dependent on machines
and miss the personal connection. We work in a field that is very
personal. Several people told their personal stories about what they
wear for home visits or about wearing lipstick and their personal
experiences of the difference it made rather than just giving
objective data. I think that lactation has to be both a personal art
and a science, and that if we can only talk about objective facts and
never share anything personal, we are not reflecting the nature of
our profession. Thanks Nikki for helping me coalesce my thoughts. -
